A Virus Fights Back!

A Virus Fights Back!

The Hook
You are a virus. You are designed to infect a computer, corrupt its data and delete system 32. Your creator codes multiple variants of virus' to infect other computers in different ways. He is a selfish person with only one goal, making everyone around him miserable. One day he becomes sloppy and misplaces a piece of code, this results in you becoming rogue and turning on the creator.

Your goal is to infect your creators computer the same way your brethren infect other computers. You must navigate and fight your way through different programs and erase the code there to ultimately corrupt the computer and delete system 32 from your creators PC. You have an array of code which can be added to yours to benefit you. can you overthrow your creator?

The Genre
The genre of A Virus Fights Back! is that of a Rogue RPG's. A Rogue RPG is a game which features a birds-eye perspective as you control a character within a 2D environment. In this case you control A Virus navigating its way through different programs. I feel that this is a "good" genre for the game because there aren't a lot of good Rouge RPG's on the market, and the ones which are "good" are mostly on PC.

The Target Audience
The target audience for A Virus Fights Back! are Teenagers and onward. I believe this is a good target audience because a lot of teenagers and adults play video games, so more games will be tailored to fit them which increases the chances of them playing this one. I also believe they are a good target audience because they have a broader mind set, so they would be open to new experiences.

Similar Games On The Market
Because of the genre, there are a lot of similar games on the market and some have directly inspired my game. Similar games include The Binding Of Isaac, Smash TV, Deadly Dungeons and The Legend Of Zelda. These games all have very similar layouts, gameplay, controls, HUD, art style and soundtrack. This in turn will make it easier to understand and pick up, creating an enjoyable and user friendly experience.

Target Platform
My target platform (And only possible platform) is PC. This is a good platform for my game to be used on because the Rogue RPG genre is best played on  a computer. However it will only work with a PC because the game uses your programs as a reference point, meaning that the programs you have will effect the game. For example if you had Google Chrome or Paint, the game would recognize those programs and use them as a level. This is what makes A Virus Fights Back! difficult to interface well with other platforms, as they have a different layout and function to a PC. The game will also be download only, eliminating the need to manufacture packaging for the game. This will be done via a games website or through the PC gaming platform Steam.
